Larissa Bennett, M.A.
Procurement and Literacy Specialist
Larissa is an enthusiastic educator who has worked in many roles, including as a primary classroom teacher, a new teacher mentor, and a senior literacy trainer. Larissa discovered her passion for literacy as a new first-grade teacher, which led her to obtain a Master’s degree in Reading Education and certification as a K-12 Reading Specialist. After working in the classroom setting, she sought to broaden her impact by focusing on accelerating teacher effectiveness as a new teacher mentor at The New Teacher Center. Later, she moved into a consulting role that supported the Chicago Public Schools’ strategies around new teacher induction and support.
Larissa has extensive knowledge of balanced literacy and guided reading. She has spent her most recent years working to strengthen the literacy practices and knowledge of teachers, school-based coaches, and administrators across Chicago through tailored coaching and professional development.
Larissa’s skill set and experience working in a large urban school district provides her with a multi-faceted lens to education, as well as a unique perspective toward implementing solutions and making connections for our clients.
