In addition to its own charter network of Athlos Academies, Athlos Education Services partners with schools nationwide to provide educators and leaders with the professional development, tools, curriculum, and materials needed to provide the best possible education to students.
The Challenge
Athlos sought support with both in-person and online professional development. As they began new initiatives in both their Academies charter schools and within Athlos Education Services, they needed trusted, experienced professional development authors and delivery.
Our Role
RYE partnered with Athlos Education Services to do a full review of its existing online professional development products, providing specific and in-depth feedback to improve the clarity, engagement and pedagogical soundness of the products as Athlos explored their broader market opportunities. Within their own Academies, Athlos sought RYE support in developing and delivering teacher PDs on classroom management and instruction at Academy centers across the country.
With the decision to take their online PD to a broader market, RYE continues to advise Athlos on their go-to-market strategy. RYE is now authoring multiple courses to add to Athlos’ online offerings, across the areas of Social-Emotional Learning, classroom management, differentiated instruction and a host of other topics.

Our Approach
RYE did a full needs assessment of Athlos professional development goals, capacity and philosophy. Working in partnership with the Athlos leadership team to help determine the direction and plan for execution crystallized the team’s needs for implementation. RYE provided robust curriculum design support for online professional development courses, and worked with Athlos network leaders to design personalized in-person professional development sessions for Athlos school leaders.
Our Result
RYE delivered PD at three Athlos Academies in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, St. Cloud, Minnesota and Salt Lake City, Utah, in addition to two national leadership retreats with overwhelmingly positive feedback from staff. Each custom-designed PD focused on personalizing development topics for the school’s needs, and delivering hands-on experience that teachers could put into immediate practice in their classrooms.
