1275 CTE Makerspace Curriculum

Grade Level: 7-8

The Des Moines Independent Community School District, serving over 30,000 students and employs approximately 5,000 teachers and staff, is currently seeking proposals from qualified firm(s) interested in providing the highest quality middle school career exploration curriculum and related services at the lowest cost to the District. While the exact range and extent of services to be provided will be subject to contract negotiation, the District anticipates that the selected firm(s) shall provide access to high-quality applied CTE- and STEM-design curriculum targeted to grades 7-8, and provide related professional development services for educators responsible for the course.

The District intends to implement a common curriculum model across all comprehensive middle schools to ensure equitable student experiences while supporting future participation in advanced secondary pathway programs.
DMPS seeks curriculum solutions that provide:
- Experiential, project-based learning
-Alignment to high school and postsecondary career pathways
- Exposure to industry-relevant tools and practices
- Opportunities for collaboration, problem-solving, creativity, and innovation
